It’s almost amazing how many advertisements I have received via e-mail over the past week and a half that have all had a similar theme. No matter what the product (office supplies to electronics) they have all asked “me” if I was ready for the “Big Game” (since use of the words “super” and “bowl” when put together would be a copyright infringement).
Many of the companies have sent multiple e-mails about various specials on various products. One is telling me I need a “bigger, better TV” to watch the “big game” on. Another warns me about not running out of assorted snack foods. Even our office supply supplier is in on the ads with break room supplies for those employees who have to work during the “big game.”
The thing is, I have known for a long time about this Sunday’s “big game.” Even back in September I knew when the date of the “big game” was and have had multiple opportunities to “prepare for the big game.”
Did you know that next year’s “big game” will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA on Sunday, February 3, 2019? And that in 2020 the “big game” will be played at the “New Miami Stadium,” Miami Gardens, FL on Sunday, February 2?
We have plenty of time to prepare for these “important” events. We know when they will take place and we can prepare for them however we feel we need to as the time draws near.
But there is another event that is coming up that will make all of the preceding information pointless. An event so huge that nobody on earth will miss it. An event of such monumental importance that, well, time will cease to exist after it.
Of course I’m talking about the return of Christ. The tricky part is that nobody but God knows when Christ will return, not even Jesus (Matthew 24:36).
There will be no e-mail blitzes asking if people are ready. There will be no warnings or signs (regardless of what the moon looks like). Jesus will return on a day and at a time that nobody expects...sort of like a thief in the night (see Matthew 24:42-44).
So, can I ask you a question: “Are YOU ready for Jesus to come back?” If not, get ready...because this year’s “big game” may not even happen!
If so, than pray with me “Maranatha!” (“Lord, come!”) And quickly!
