Hopefully by now you are aware that August 28 will be our annual Friends Day. It is not too early to start inviting friends and family and neighbors and coworkers and everyone else that you know to attend our services on August 28. If you are reading this online, and you are not a member at Eastgate, then YOU are invited to be with us August 28.
Please allow me to give you a brief overview of the sermons leading up to our Friends Day...maybe you’ll decide that you don’t want your friends to wait until August 28 to come with you. Perhaps you’ll want them to come with you as early as this coming Sunday.
The theme for this special time of the year is “What will YOU do with Jesus?” Here are the dates and sermon topics leading up to our Friends Day:
July 31: “What will YOU do with Jesus? Listen to Him.”
August 7: “What will YOU do with Jesus? Trust in Him.”
August 14: “What will YOU do with Jesus? Turn to Him.”
August 21: “What will YOU do with Jesus? Surrender to Him.”
August 28: “What will YOU do with Jesus? Die with Him.”
September 4: “What will YOU do with Jesus? Live for Him.”
I’m sure you have noticed that this series extends one Sunday past Friends Day...this is for a reason and will be made clear to you as we get closer to Friends Day.
But look again at the six responses to the question, “What will YOU do with Jesus?”: listen to Him, trust in Him, turn to Him, surrender to Him, die with Him, live for Him. Do you catch a sense of what Friends Day 2016 is really all about?
What will YOU do with Jesus? Will you hear Him? Will you believe Him? Will you repent? Will you confess Him as Lord? Will you be buried with Him in baptism? Will you faithfully serve Him the rest of your life?
Friends Day 2016 is about souls! Souls of people YOU and I know. Souls that will spend eternity either with or without Jesus...so, when it comes to YOUR friends, YOUR family, YOUR neighbors, YOUR coworkers and everyone else that YOU know, let me ask once more, “What will YOU do with Jesus?”
