Fortunately Rachel was able to find another girl who is in the same club as Rachel who was without a roommate as well...and they decided to become roommates (thus avoiding an additional charge for a private room, even though it wasn’t either of their fault they didn’t have a roommate).
So on January 27, Rachel moved from her third floor room to a room on the first floor (which means it will be a lot easier to move her out in May!). They had a good first week together, despite Kendi being a Yankee from New York.
Last weekend, though, Monica called Rachel and she was getting Kendi some medicine and some chicken soup...because she wasn’t feeling well. On Monday, Kendi went to a doctor and she had the flu...and Rachel called her Mommy to say she wasn’t feeling well either and that Kendi’s doctor had recommended that her roommate be tested and start taking Tami-flu as well.
The long and short is that on Tuesday, Rachel felt worse, went to the nurse and got excused from her Tuesday classes and “Momma D” (the dorm mom) has confined Rachel and Kendi to their room until Thursday.
I thought of several points that could be made...such as the importance of timing and if Rachel had waited one more week to move she wouldn’t have gotten sick.
But the most important one concerns the “flu” and casual contact. Rachel had not been around Kendi very much until they became roommates. Then when Kendi got sick, Rachel was nearby, so Rachel got sick.
Christianity is infectious. Those people who are around you the most should know that you are a Christian. You have “type 1 Christianity” and it should be contagious. Have the people you are around the most “caught it” from you?
